HAPPENINGS

Happy New Year!  The NLI Section Staff joins me in wishing you
a Happy and Healthy New Year.  As 2002 dawns, I'd like to thank
anyone who was active in Amateur Radio during 2001.  It was
quite a year - one in which our emergency communications skills
were tested and our unique capacity to generate international
goodwill was shown.  Good luck to each of you in 2002.

From Tom Carrubba KA2D, Section Emergency Coordinator:
As the result of a successful NWS/ARRL Skywarn Recognition
Day and a very good coordinators meeting, the National
Weather Service will have a Skywarn representative and a
NWS person at HRU2002. Also HRU2002 is now known
to other areas outside of NLI. Coordinators were present
from 18 skywarn districts during national recognition day
in December.  I represented ARRL/NLI and was one of
the presenters. Bill Scheibel N2NFI represented Suffolk
County ARES/RACES. Charles Hargrove N2NOV represented
NYC ARES/RACES and NYC Skywarn. Paul Beeman W2PB
was appointed Suffolk County Skywarn coordinator.

Emil Tillona KD1F is the section DXCC card checker and is
available for field checking of QSL cards for your DXCC Award.
