Welcome!  This is an addendum to the January edition of the
NY City / Long Island "ehappenings" Section newsletter! 
This newsletter is here to serve the Amateur Radio community
in our area.  I welcome and encourage all submissions. 
Please help make this your newsletter! I especially encourage
officers of the area's Amateur Radio clubs to submit their
meeting announcements, guest speakers and special events.
Please submit any information for the February issue prior
to the end of January.

ADDITIONAL HAPPENINGS

HOSARC Monthly Meeting is Tuesday, January 14, in Queens at 8 pm.
Meetings are held at the New York Hall of Science Museum cafeteria,
47-01 111th Street, Flushing Meadow, Corona Park, Queens NY.
Please enter the cafeteria through the back science playground behind
the museum. Special Guest speaker will be Gordon West WB6NOA.
Gordo will be talking about the new portable HF radios and will bring
down the new Yaesu FT-897 and the FT-817.He will be also bring
down hand outs and prizes.  See their website at

The Suffolk County Radio Club will be holding Entry Level Amateur
Radio Classes (for Technician) beginning on January 21st at 7pm in
the Bohemia Recreation Center on Ruzicka Way (off Smithtown Ave)
in Bohemia. Pre-register with Katherine Pearsall, KC2ACJ, at
516-984-6941 with a voice mail message, or kc2acj@juno.com

Congratulations to:
Robert Robinson KB2PSM and Phyllis (Napolitano) Robinson KC2DKD
on the birth of their first harmonic - Julianne Sarah!   Julianne was born
on January 5, 2003 at 6:53 am, weighing 8 pounds.  Phyllis and daughter
are reportedly doing fine and should be home from the hospital soon.
Julianne looks a bit like her daddy with her beautiful red hair.  Best
wishes to the Robinsons and their new daughter!

Ham Radio 2003 is Sunday, January 19, at East Woods School in
Oyster Bay, Long Island.  Please join us for a day of technical education

The last HRU 2003 planning meeting will be Monday, January 13, at
Babylon Town Hall ARES/RACES Room, Sunrise Highway, in
North Lindenhurst at 7 PM.  Final planning and logistics for the event
will be discussed.  For more information on the planning meeting,
