Tom Carrubba KA2D, Section Emergency Coordinator:
January was busy with the DEC change in NYC. I worked with
Mike Lisenco N2YBB on a number of issues relating to NYC
ARES and the served agencies. Mike has personally met with
representatives of all served agencies. Mike's dedication to
NYC ARES is evident by the increase in net participation
and received reports. He is off to a great start. It has
been a long time since NYC ARES had EC in all boroughs.

On Jan 2, I attended the Peconic ARC meeting and spoke about
ARES and handed out new EC and AEC Certificates to the
group. I was accompanied by Phil Lewis N2MUN, NLI ACC
who spoke about HRU 2004. I attended and participated in
HRU 2004 which is also the NLI Section Convention.
There was a scheduled meeting with SECs from ENY, NLI
and NNJ which was canceled due to weather. NLI ARES had a
section-wide ARES meeting with DEC's from NYC and Nassau
Counties along with EC's from all three districts. Hudson Division
Director Frank Fallon N2FF and NLI Section Manager George
Tranos N2GA were also in attendance. Each DEC gave a brief
report of activities from last year and their goals for
2004. I spoke about our rededication to preparedness and
announced that all NLI ARES members are to complete EC-001
by the end of 2004.  I continue to solicit reports and monitor nets,
e-mails and newsletters. NLI ARES DEC's and EC's will use the
FSD-212 (1/04) form to report starting March 2004.
