HAPPENINGS

New York Antenna Bill making progress in Albany - As of this
writing, Hudson Division Director Frank Fallon, N2FF, reports the
bill has made it out of both of the Assembly and Senate Local
Government Committees.  The Senage Bill (S.2893) is now in the
Rules Committee, the last step prior to being released for a vote by
the full Senate.  The Assembly Bill (A.1565) is being held by the
Ways and Means Committee.  It must be released by this
Committee before it is sent to the Assembly Rules Committee and
ultimately to the floor for a vote.  The purpose of the bill is to
incorporate the essence of the limited federal preemption known as
PRB-1 into NY state law.  It is vitally important that every ham in
New York State write your State Assemblyman and State Senator
asking for their support of this important legislation. More
information is available on the ARRL Hudson Division website:
http://www.arrlhudson.org

NY City District Emergency Coordinator Charles Hargrove,
N2NOV, reports that 30 Radio Amateurs participated in the Five
Boro Bike Tour on May 6.  On May 27, NY City ARES supported
the 369th Veteran's Parade with 5 operators.  On May 28, 5
operators provided communications for the Memorial Day Run on
Staten Island.

Fort Hamilton 176th Anniversary Special Event - On June 10, the
Kings County Repeater Association will operate club station
WA2ZWP on 14.243, 21.343, 28.343 to celebrate the 176th
Anniversary of Fort Hamilton in Brooklyn. For a Special Event
QSL, Send a SASE to PO Box 180312,  Brooklyn, NY
11218-0312.  See www.kcra.org for more information or call the
KCRA Hotline (718) 284-0752.

ARRL Field Day - is this month!  It is the weekend of  June 22, 23
and 24, 2001. There will be a future listing on the NLI website and
in a future edition of the e-happenings newsletter. Many clubs will
have Field Day sites - send your info to me so you can be listed in
both!
