HAPPENINGS

New York Antenna Bill still in Assembly and Senate Rules
Committees - the bill is still in both the Assembly and
Senate Rules Committees. This is the last step prior to being
released to the floor for a vote.  The purpose of the bill is to
incorporate the essence of the limited federal preemption known as
PRB-1 into NY state law. We now need your help in asking the
Senate and Assembly leadership to move the bill for a vote. Please
immediately telephone, and e-mail the following legislators asking
them to please bring these bills - A.1565 and S.2893 - to the floor
for a vote:

Senator Joe Bruno - Senate Rules Committee
Majority Leader
Telephone - 518-455-3191
E-mail - bruno@senate.state.ny.us

Assemblyman - Sheldon Silver
Chairman Assembly Rules Committee
Telephone - 518-455-3791
E-mail - speaker@assembly.state.ny.us

Our message to them: "Please bring these bills - A.1565 and S.2893
- to the floor so New York State Amateur Radio operators can
continue to serve their communities, at no cost to the state, in times
of communication emergencies like those now taking place during
the Texas and Louisiana floods."  More information is available on
the ARRL Hudson Division website: http://www.arrlhudson.org

have called and e-mailed me their congratulations for being named
as the recipient of the Herb Brier Instructor of the Year award.
It is nice to be able to receive an award for doing something
that I enjoy so much - teaching ham radio.  I encourage each of
you to make a personal commitment to try and help get at least
one new person licensed this year.  Please also try to help out
