As reported by Adam Smook N2EWB: I am sorry to report that former LIMARC Member and longtime Wantagh resident K2ROG passed away (on or about Oct 5th) from complictions after surgery. Bob had been living near Greenville, SC for the last 5 or 6 yrs, with his wife Libby. Ever since I met him in the early 1970's, Bob was a wonderful friend, role model & mentor. I enjoyed many afternoons in my teenage years (up to & including adulthood) learning about Ham Radio, General Aviation and life. Bob inspired and encouraged me and then helped me earn both my General Class Ham Radio License and my Private Pilot License. I will never forget him, the lessons he taught me, and the fun that we had. The man was truly an inspiration and a wonderful friend. Sincerely, N2EWB-Adam Smook A message from the Section Emergency Coordinator: Concerning Training, Nets, Drills and Meetings: ARES members need to step up and raise their commitment. This commitment is vital for the ability to respond and fulfill the ARES communication mission. This includes Net activity, attending meetings, training and keeping your equipment operational. Also, part of the commitment is to recruit new members. Emergency preparedness is a 24/7 commitment. All ARES members should try to dress alike during events, meetings and callouts. I know there is no dress code at this time, For now, ARES members should at least wear the familiar orange hat, ARES ID, and a name tag. All the ARES leadership should have your official ARRL ID badge. This will go a long way to looking like a group. Banners and magnetic signs for command and mobile stations are also suggested. Yes, this requires a personal expense, but I my opinion it is a worthwhile expense. God Bless America.
